I first became interested in genealogy about 15 years ago when a cousin on my mother’s side gave us a tree he had created of my maternal grandmother’s tree. I was immediately fascinated. Who were all these people whose names I had never heard before but who were the reason I existed at all? I wanted to know more and just like that, I was hooked!

While I have been slowly adding to my knowledge of my own family history over the years, it has only been in the last few years that I decided I wanted to take this passion beyond my own family. I began taking as many classes as I could as well as exploring resources on my own. I have recently begun my journey to become a certified genealogist, a goal I hope to complete in the next few years.

I have a strong interest in South Carolina and its history which is why I started this blog.  My family, on both lines, trace back to people who lived in South Carolina before the United States was even a country.  My roots are definitely deeply planted here!
