It can, however, lead to pitfalls such as following an incorrect tree down a rabbit hole. Let me teach you not only how to avoid these pitfalls, but also how to use the resources available most efficiently.
- One on One WikiTree Instruction:
WikiTree is an online family tree created by users from all over the world. It’s a great way to collaborate with others who are researching the same ancestors and allows you to share your pictures, research, and documents in a single database. Sometimes people can find it daunting to use and my instruction is intended to make you feel confident and get the most from this amazing resource. - One on One FamilySearch Instruction: FamilySearch.org, which is run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, is a free treasure trove of family tree information. Let me help you learn the ins and outs of using it as a research tool.
- Genealogical DNA Assistance: Genealogical DNA can be used for many purposes: discovering an unknown parent or relative, varifying genealogical research, or helping to solve a family tree “brick wall”. I can assist you in all phases from choosing the best test for your needs to taking the test. I can help you get the most from your DNA testing depending on what you are hoping to discover. I have personal experience with Ancestry DNA, FTDNA, and 23 and Me. I am also experienced in using tools such as GedMatch and DNAPainter. I offer instruction in these or my services in interpreting and using your results.
- Family Tree Research: Do you need help getting your tree started or building on what you already have? I will research your tree and make it available on WikiTree. If you have a software program you are already using, I can come to your home and add the research there. The research will include sources for all information obtained. At this time I only offer this service for ancestry in the United States.
- Ancestor Jewelry: I will make a beatiful piece of wearble art from your old family photos. Pendants are made with resin and are available in a variety of designs. I also make custom-made micro-macrame pieces. Contact me about prices. Below are some examples of my work.
